Brighton guitarist Tom Hollands who normally creates electric guitar noise in a alt rock band Oceans has an interesting side project involving creating percussive acoustic instrumental music. Taking inspiration from the likes of acoustic wizard Andy McKee, Tom fuses melodic ideas with percussive rhythmic sounds to bring a bounce and energy to his music.

Tom has just recorded and released his debut single 'Cloud Walk' which has an accompanying low fi video. The instrumental piece has a funky vibe to it. Incorporating tapping, percussive tapping, melody, and harmony, the song is indeed a walk through the metaphorical musical sky. He manages to pull of great technical song and feeling without being cocky or self indulgent. It has a very heartfelt feel to it.

It would be very interesting to see what his instrumental song could become with more instrumentation added, a possible band playing with him to create a fuller sound. A fantastic and diverse local talent, check him out!
