Patterns was packed and going off on Wednesdays 14th December whilst Just Like Fruit took to the stage to promote their debut EP release "On the door". With a raffle to win a custom graffiti art piece, the band wanted to leave their mark on their fans, both new and old.
First band on were an acoustic due called Liemba who gave the night a folky, indie flavour.

They warmed up the audience with upbeat, catchy songs which had catchy melodies and both members had a great chemistry onstage together.
The music had a great earthy vibe to it which would contrast well with the other bands yet to play.
The next band, Blake Bastion, brought the vibe up again with blues rock music with a twist.

What set this performance apart from the rest was the use of a live string section. What would have been a good but not really remarkable set was uplifted and given a new twist with distorted guitars combining with melodic string sections. This was a very enjoyable take on rock blues!
Edward Sansom was the third bill on, and the mood was lifted even further with melodic pop songs with a rock edge to them.

The vibe of this band is 90's pop music blending softer singer songwriter songs with more upbeat indie rock.
Some of the more melon-conic sounding songs have an 80's Joy Division feel to them.
Edward is definitely a talented artist who has a very clear musical direction.
And then it was time for Just Like Fruit to make their mark on the night. Taking to the stage with gusto and enthusiasm, the band were in good spirits and the crowd responded in kind.

Firstly, frontman Dion Mason-Poole exudes confidence and swagger which immediately engages the audience. He's like a mix between Mick Jagger and James Brown in his stage antics which keeps you interested at all times during their set.
Their funky blues rock songs are driven by neat guitar work by both guitarists and the grooves are provided by an equally energetic bass player, Ryan Melbourne-Hurley. The band and their songs bring a sense of fun and escape from the daily grind of life that anyone watching may be feeling. With more gigs lined up in Brighton for the band, they are surely about to become a well loved local band!
