The Green Door Store's gig room is a bare bones venue for any band playing in Brighton but it does have a grass roots charm to it. The steak walls remind you that this is where new bands cut their teeth musically.

On first on Friday December 9th were 2 String Slim who is a solo performer playing a homemade slide bass with three strings but on this occasion was accompanied by a drummer. His music has a bluesy, Americana vibe to it. Obvious comparisons to Seasick Steve will be made. Added to the set was a cheeky Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme tune cover which was really quirky and interesting. An enjoyable break from the norm listening to this set that night!
Just Like Fruit up next who are another young Brighton band starting out on their musical path. They are a straight ahead five piece blues band with an infectious attitude towards performing.

Soulful blues melodies with crunchy guitar tones and a driving bass is what this band is all about. The band are constantly pumping up the crowd and getting the audience to participate in dancing or singing so the band know how to endear themselves to the people watching their gigs. With their own EP launch this Wednesday December 14th at Patterns, they are sure to have everyone there grooving and bouncing around with their upbeat stage personas.
